A New Year

Where does it go?  Time.... always in motion, waiting for no one.

Here it is most of the way through January  and I am only now getting around to writing Happy New Year to you.

This will be the year I become a photographer. Enough of taking pictures, time to get serious.

Follow along as I document my steps along this journey.

Focus where you want when shooting Macro

Often when doing macro photography, the auto focus system does not always focus where you want the focus to be. We all know that in macro work, the Depth of Field (DoF) is a thin sliver and focus needs to be exact to achieve what we want.

Here's a hint that may save some frustration:
Let the AF choose a focus, then you lock the focus, or switch lens to manual focus. Now you can slowly move yourself and the camera closer to, or farther away from the subject and choose exactly the portion you want to have in focus. I will often leave the lens in manual focus, so I can get close to what I want by focusing the lens, then get the precise point by slight movements of my upper body.

Do you have tips for working in macro? Let's hear them!

Welcome to my Musings, Tips, Opinions, Questions and Answers

I will be posting various tips, tricks, comments, and opinions, or just random rants on this blog.

Mostly it will revolve around photography, but I tend to get scattered, so this blog may follow that tendency.

If you have questions or topics you would like for me to discuss, let me know.
